He competes in cyclo cross in the European winter after the road cycling season has finished, and won the gold medal at the world championships in 2010, 2011 and 2014. He competed in mountain bike between 2009 and 2010, and also represented the Czech Republic in track cycling at the 2003 World Junior Championships in Moscow, Russian Federation. He missed the cyclo cross season during the European winter, but was fit again for the beginning of the road cycling season at the start of 2015.
