Her older brother Akil Campbell has represented Trinidad and Tobago in track cycling and road cycling. He participated in the road race at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, and competed on the track at the Pan American championships at four editions of the tournament between 2015 and 2019. Her mother Euphemia Huggins represented Trinidad and Tobago in athletics, placing 20th in long jump at the 1987 World Championships in Rome, Italy. She took up cycling as a hobby before starting to focus on the sport more seriously in 2014. (voxwomen.com, 15 Dec 2019; pezcyclingnews.com, 05 Dec 2019)

Her father Victor and her older brother Akil were keen cyclists. "Growing up being the younger sibling I was just simply following what my brother was doing. I admired Akil's grit, even if cycling wasn't a passion of mine and it brought our family together. For a period I stopped but a local coach named Elisha Greene would tease me about coming back each time he dropped my brother home." (voxwomen.com, 15 Dec 2019; pezcyclingnews.com, 05 Dec 2019)

"I want to be a person people can look up to. I love cycling and want to help everyone as much as I can to develop the sport in my country." (voxwomen.com, 15 Dec 2019)

General Interest

General
NEW TEAM FOR 2020
She joined the Valcar - Travel & Service team from Italy ahead of the 2020 season. "I had a lot of interest from approximately 12 teams. Some of them were teams that applied for the Women's World Tour status. I choose Valcar because their number one priority was me being comfortable in the environment and happy. For them, the key to success is being happy and everything else with follow - person first, then the rider. I'm looking forward to racing, developing holistically, having strong team cohesion, and dominating the circuit with the girls." (pezcyclingnews.com, 05 Dec 2019)

TEMPERATURE SHOCK
In 2018 she moved to the International Cycling Union [UCI] World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland, to live and train. "The first day I arrived in Switzerland, it was a transition from 25 degrees celsius in the Caribbean down to minus 14 degrees. I was thinking to myself, 'What the hell is this?'. I still remember that my chain busted within one week while out on a ride, and I walked home in the snow. I was freezing. I was shy in the beginning, and I never asked for help, and I didn't talk to anyone." (cyclingnews.com, 26 Jun 2020)
