BACKGROUND
Born in Lentvaris, Lithuania, she moved to Poland with her family while she was still at primary school and was later granted citizenship there. She represented Poland in cycling until 2017, and then began competing for Slovenia. Part of her motivation for making the switch was that she had not been selected for the Polish team that went to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "The idea of switching nationality came up from Slovenian side in 2016. It was not an easy decision. After years of riding for the Slovenian team [BTC City Ljubljana] I had a bond with the people there. I had learned about the country and its culture. I want to do my best - not only for me, but also for the national team. When I wear the Slovenian jersey, I fight with my whole heart, like I did before for Poland."
