He underwent surgery and returned to training in November 2019. In November 2020 he had another operation to remove a plate from his shoulder blade. He has his own cycling clothing and accessories brand named 'Go Rigo, Go!'. He and his wife Michelle launched the business on the internet, but the company has grown and there are now several stores throughout Colombia. He was inspired by fans who would support him at races while wearing t-shirts with his name and his image. "My wife said, 'Okay, let's create a company and sell cycling clothing and everything. RACE

TRAGEDY
In 2001, when the 'Dirty War' between guerrillas and paramilitary forces in Colombia was at its peak, his father was shot and killed in the streets of Urrao. "My dad was 52. Violence killed him.
