He relocated to Europe as a teenager in order to launch his cycling career. "I went to Europe at age 18, a Spanish team called me. I had to seize the opportunity and I went all by myself, right to the adventure, to see what might happen. In Spain I was in Valencia, competing in the Spanish Cup. I also raced in France and Portugal. It helped me a lot to improve my level. What I learnt the most was how to ride in a group and to take care of my body with good nutrition and rest."
