GENDER EQUALITY
She considered quitting the sport due to a lack of financial support ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games. However, she was selected for the Spanish team ahead of the Games and went on to place 47th in the road race in Rio de Janeiro. Since then she believes circumstances for female cyclists have improved in Spain. "Nowadays you can live as an athlete, but when I was young that was unthinkable of in Spain. In recent years, we have taken a huge step. We have seen that a number of women in Spain are professionals. Even if we are still behind the men, we enjoy quite reasonable conditions."
