She represented Australia in BMX at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Melbourne, VIC, Australia. She has also competed in track cycling and won gold in the points race at the 2004 World Junior Championships in Los Angeles, CA, United States of America. She was diagnosed with piriformis syndrome in 2008. The condition affects the piriformis muscle in the buttocks region, and can also compress the sciatic nerve. She was in such severe pain in her lower back and down her right leg that she could not ride for more than 45 minutes at a time.
