She initially took up mountain bike as summer training for speed skating. "When I discovered skating at age 11, I became more serious and the elite athlete in me appeared for the first time. But as a skater I realised that you also have to train hard in the summer. That's how I got on the bike. Cycling didn't satisfy me, so I opted for mountain biking.
