His brother Justin is also a Dutch international BMX racer. (ad.nl, 16 Mar 2019)
:
He began BMX racing at age five at the FCC de Vaart cycling club in Dedemsvaart, the Netherlands. (detoren.net, 19 May 2019)
:
He also did speed skating, a popular sport in the Netherlands, alongside BMX, but was inspired by the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing to pursue riding. "Before I started BMX, I was speed skating. When I was five or six years old, my dad always said to stick to speed skating. But I just loved BMX and I was always a huge fan of the Olympics. I remember the first time BMX was in the Olympics, in Beijing 2008, it was my first week at a new school and I would wake up every night at 3am to watch BMX and then fall asleep at school the next day." General Interest

General
POST-RIO BLUES
He admitted to struggling with motivation after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "I had reached pretty much all of the goals I have ever wanted at the age of 20. I really found it hard to find motivation after that. I couldn't sleep at nights, and I felt stressed all the time. And it was hard for me to talk about it because people didn't understand it and would offer advice like, 'You are 20, you can race your bike every day, and you have achieved all those things', so I was almost kind of ashamed to talk about it. And then at some point, I realised it is not the results that I race for, it is actually the love of the sport. I really feel like those two years [after Rio] where I felt pretty shitty actually gave me five years of experience." (christianbosse.com, 10 Dec 2018)

HUMBLE BACKGROUND
He comes from a farming family, and says this has helped keep him grounded. "I saw my dad and other people around me working 24/7. Being a farmer is not like a nine to five job, and I feel like being an athlete is the same thing, you wake up with it and you go to bed with it. Seeing them work and not making that much money is really something that keeps me humble. I don't want to buy expensive things, because it just doesn't seem right for me. It just doesn't feel right for me to act like I am some superhuman or something. I think my roots are really what keep me humble. I am just a guy who likes to race his bike. I may travel the world, but I'm not going to act like I am some superstar." (christianbosse.com, 10 Dec 2018)

FURTHER EDUCATION
In 2014 he studied sport business at the Johan Cruyff Institute in Barcelona, Spain. (Linkedin profile, 01 Jan 2020)
