She followed her father Keith into the sport. He also built her a training track at home. "My dad used to race BMX when he was younger. One day he took me to the local track to try it out and I've loved it ever since. I love that BMX is an individual sport and that my hard work determines my success." "One motto that I always remember is to believe in myself. Without confidence, everything is 10 times harder and not fun. As long as I can believe, I can achieve one of my goals, I work towards it and am always motivated to keep raising the bar in cycling. My second motto is from [US rapper] Snoop Dogg, 'I stay ready so I don't have to get ready'." (pumptrack.com, 09 Jun 2019)

CHILDREN'S AUTHOR
In 2021 she published the illustrated children's book 'A to Z: BMX Style', which aims to inspire young people to learn more through BMX racing. "I initially got the idea from my aunt Jennifer, who wrote A to Z books hockey style with the same format. I wrote my first draft for the book about 10 years ago [speaking in 2021] with my mum and it sat on the computer for years until I rediscovered it last year [in 2020] during quarantine. There's nothing in BMX for the kids that helps them learn and also connects it to their interest in bikes, so I thought it would be a super cool idea. I did some rewriting and more brainstorming and started this endeavour. My aunt Jennifer was super supportive, and helped guide me through the process. I raised over 10,000 USD in a Kickstarter campaign to help fund illustrations, printing, and other fees. And a few months later I have an actual hardcover, coloured copy of my book in my hands. I'm super stoked on it and it's a great book for anyone who has kids or knows someone who has kids that love bikes." (realbmxracing.com, 25 Apr 2021; wfmz.com, 16 Apr 2021)
