Her husband Sam Willoughby won a silver medal in BMX racing for Australia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He also won three gold medals at the world championships and finished sixth at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, before his career was cut short by a spinal injury that resulted in paralysis in September 2016.
