He began riding at age four at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach, VA, United States of America, and began competing at age six. (vitalbmx.com, 20 Jul 2019; wtkr.com, 19 Jun 2019)
:
"I got into riding because the city I grew up in, Virginia Beach, built a new skate park. My brothers got into it and I of course followed them in. I went there every day from the time I was four. I am an all around rider. I enjoy it all. The biggest problem I think is that everyone is instantly categorised 'street', 'park rat', 'dirt rider', etc., and that's wrong because we are all BMXers that enjoy different things. I occasionally go ride dirt, or I'll go ride downtown and have just as much fun as riding the skatepark. Everyone just needs to accept riders for what they enjoy and not categorise them." To compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (wtkr.com, 19 Jun 2019)

"Today [2019], I ride about five times a week - but I'm also much smarter about riding. There's no point wearing myself out every day. When I do ride, I try to ride hard and get done what I want to get done. My sessions now are shorter than they were two years ago [2017] and I will find myself spending a whole session on one trick." "I've always been a fierce competitor. I've been competing since I was six, so it's a big part of me. I, however, changed my professionalism of competing. I try not to give out too much information on what I'm going to do or what my strategies are. Competitions are when I ride my best, though. It's when the adrenaline is really pumping and when I'm most comfortable." (vitalbmx.com, 20 Jul 2019)

General Interest

General
ATTITUDE SHIFT
Speaking in mid-2019, he said his diet in the United States had affected his performances negatively in the past, contributing to an overall change in attitude. "Two years ago [2017] my diet was absolutely horrible. I lived in North Carolina by myself, so I just ate out everyday. It really affected my riding now that I look back at it. The way I eat hasn't changed much, but since I spend so much time in Europe, when I eat out, it isn't complete garbage. I can basically eat the same meals and lose weight while doing so. I do, however, try to make better choices than I used to. Most importantly, I found the motivation to want to be a winner. When I switched from amateur competitions to professional ones around 2016, I was getting tanked. I put my head down and restarted how I viewed my training, my bike, my weight, my parks, and where I focused my attention. You can't ride good unless you feel good. I studied the professionals around me and I emulated them." (vitalbmx.com, 20 Jul 2019)

UNIQUE FRAME
He rides a custom one-off frame. "I am riding a Lairdframe with parts from a variety of companies. Over time, I became intrigued with having a bike that no one else has. With a Lairdframe, I can choose my own geometry and it's also very light." (vitalbmx.com, 20 Jul 2019)
