DISCIPLINE SWITCH
He decided to compete in the K4 500m instead of the K2 1000m at the 2019 World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, two months before the tournament. The Slovakian men's K4 500m crew went on to secure an Olympic quota spot for the 2020 Games in Tokyo by winning bronze at the world championships. "There was a commotion around my switch, but I chose this especially because I want to get to the Olympics. I'm not saying that Peter Gelle [his K2 1000m crewmate] wouldn't have worked well with me, but I was more certain about the K4 500m. I always do well in this event, it has always been like that. I'm glad I have this opportunity, the Olympics is my big dream. It motivates me that I can watch [K4 500m crewmate] Erik Vlcek and I hope that one day I will be able to break his records."
