BREAK AND RETURN
He took a two-year break from the sport before returning to competition in early 2019. "I first just had a break to get back in touch with life, get a reality check and do a lot of surfing and building houses and walking the dog, so it was nice to do that. Then I started back in training and injured my right shoulder, and needed an operation in May 2018, so that really hampered what I had planned to do. I wanted to be back on the [national] team in 2018. I would love to go to another Olympics but it's more about being fit and healthy for me.
