In 2019 he teamed up with Luca Beccaro to compete in the men's K2 1000m. "In the individual races we were always the same. Sometimes I beat him, sometimes he did the same to me. During the national team selection trials our coaches saw our performances, and decided they would try us out together. A team needs to have strong individuals, otherwise you cannot aspire to do well. Not only do we both perform at a high level, but we respect each other a lot too. We are able to have fun.
