REPRESENTING SENEGAL
Born to a Senegalese mother in France, he has held dual citizenship of France and Senegal since 2008. He first competed for Senegal in 2012, at age 17, and says he was inspired to represent the country by French-born Togolese slalom canoeist Benjamin Boukpeti. "I have wanted to represent Senegal since 2008 after seeing the example of Benjamin Boukpeti winning an Olympic medal [bronze] with Togo in Beijing. The level in France is very crowded. I had more luck competing for Senegal." (wiwsport.com, 11 Sep 2015; cotequimper.fr, 19 Nov 2015; france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr, 01 Jun 2016)

FURTHER EDUCATION
He has also studied for a degree in mechanical and automatic engineering at the National Institute of Applied Sciences [INSA] in Rennes, France, and for a master's degree in innovation and entrepreneurship at the Rennes School of Business.
