FAMILY TRAGEDY
Her older brothers Jamie and Gavin died in a car accident in 1994, the year before was Skye was born. Gavin was just age 10 at the time, while Jamie was age 22 and had already represented Australia in boxing at the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games. "I feel close to [Jamie]. It's a little bit eerie, and it's a little bit awesome. I feel like I know him so well. Boxing has brought us closer. I'm doing everything he did. It's surreal. I know he's looking down on me. I know he's proud of me. I talk to him and I didn't even know him. It's pretty crazy, hey? But I have chats with him all the time. I talk to him leading up to really big fights. He's been inspiring me and motivating me since I was 12. I definitely feel like he's here." (abc.net.au, 15 Apr 2018; theaustralian.com.au, 13 Apr 2018)
