OLYMPIC OPPORTUNITY
In January 2021 he turned professional, signing with Top Rank and Antonio Leonard Promotions. Later in the year he was awarded a quota place for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo through the IOC Boxing Task Force [BTF] rankings, after a number of qualifying events had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "The Olympics was something I've wanted to do since I was eight years old. I dream about gold medals for sure. I'm going to fight my heart out, and make the whole United States proud. I'm looking forward to meeting people, meeting some of the athletes, going to watch some of the different games. Just the whole Olympic environment, you only get that experience one time."
