FOURTH TIME LUCKY
He tried unsuccessfully to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2008, 2012 and 2016, and turned down going professional in pursuit of his Olympic dream. In May 2021, due to his Pan American ranking, his qualification for the Olympic Games in Tokyo was confirmed. He will be the fourth boxer to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the Olympic Games. "Dreams do come true after all. I believe all my years of hard work have paid off. Any person that knows me and the journey I have been on, would agree with me. The news is still soaking in. However, just like a soldier, I'm set and ready to move. Shocked, but ready." (newsday.co.tt, 15 May 2021; trinidadexpress.com, 14 May 2021)
