General
PIONEER
She is the first female boxer to have represented Colombia at the Olympic Games, as well as the nation's first female boxer to win an Olympic medal, and is proud to be a pioneer on the sport. "I feel very proud because a lot of doors have been opened in this sport. [Female boxing] has even been added to the inter schools programme. There are a lot of massive events in Colombia for boys and girls who have this dream. I did not have that chance when I started out because it just didn't exist. But due to the results achieved there are now girls of 14, 15 years old [who participate]. I'm proud of myself, knowing that my name will be written in history for having won the medal that made female boxing stand out." (plazacapital.co, 24 Mar 2021)

HUSBAND
She is trained by her husband Raul Ortiz. "We are one. He is a very intelligent person at training. He knows my skills and weak points and we try to reinforce everything. He is tough with me when it is needed for me to perform well. He is also very human as he knows about my injuries and myself, that makes us a strong team. I'm thankful I found him in my life."
