He had a friend who bragged that he could fight. Oliveira learned that his friend was boxing at a social project called 'Luta pela Paz' [Fighting for Peace] in Rio de Janeiro, so he started training there at different times to his friend. The idea was to develop himself, and then later challenge him. "I went there [to the social project], trained for a while, and when I believed I was ready, I found out that he had quit.
