General Interest

General
Marketa Slukova and Barbora Hermannova are making their second Olympic appearance as a pair at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. They placed third in their pool at Rio 2016 to progress as 'lucky losers' but they were beaten in two of their next three matches and did not qualify for the round of 16. Slukova also competed at the 2012 Games in London, where she and her former partner Kristyna Kolocova became the first Czech beach volleyball players to reach the quarterfinals at the Olympic Games.

Slukova and Hermannova won their first World Tour event in 2015 in Antalya, and then secured further victories in Ostrava and Vienna in 2018 and in Kuala Lumpur in 2019. They were runners-up at the 2018 World Tour Final in Hamburg, where they were defeated in straight sets by Brazil's Eduarda Lisboa and Agatha Bednarczuk.

The pair have won two medals at the European championships, claiming silver in 2016 and bronze in 2018. They were unable to secure a third medal at the championships in 2020, losing the bronze medal match to Russian duo Svetlana Kholomina and Nadezda Makroguzova.
