She used to practise swimming, handball and futsal, and was spotted by coach Augusto Figueiredo playing handball at a school competition in Minas Gerais state in Brazil. He invited her for a try-out on the state's beach volleyball team. "My family used to go to the beach, so I always had a special link with it, for the freedom, and peace, that it brings me. However I was a little anxious because I was getting old, but when the chance appeared I took it with all my strength." (voleidepraia.cbv.com.br, 2019; hojeemdia.com.br, 24 Jul 2017)
