Volleyball coach Craig Tefertiller noticed her at a basketball training session and asked her father if she would be interested in playing volleyball. After several years she verbally committed to play volleyball at California State University, Long Beach in the United States of America, until the coaches there suggested that she put herself forward for USA Beach Volleyball high performance trials. She enjoyed the trials and continued with the sport. "It was a difficult decision, but I decided to go to USC [University of Southern California, United States of America] and play just beach."
