DEALING WITH DISRUPTION
He first teamed up with playing partner Damien Schumann in 2017. They were split up two months after triumphing together at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia, in order to try and earn two quota places for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, before resuming their partnership in early 2020. He has also had a son and undergone multiple surgeries ahead of the Games. "This Olympic cycle has been one of the most challenging periods of my life and I wouldn't have changed it for the world. I have become a father. I've had a shoulder reconstruction, four knee surgeries in 10 months, won a Commonwealth Games gold medal. I've switched teams twice and then like everyone else having to deal with COVID. The COVID break is a period of time I would not take back as it gave me the time to spend with my young family, without travel and work on my body."
