General Interest

General
YOUTH COACHING
In 2020 he spent time coaching the U14 girls team at the Kortrijk Spurs club in Belgium. He had decided not to renew his contract with the Basket Namur Capitale earlier in the year, and was looking for a new challenge. "Only the COVID-19 pandemic threw a spanner in the works. Concrete offers were not forthcoming and I realised that I would be without a club at the start of the coming season. [Kortrijk Spurs] is a new fusion club with many youth teams. They were looking for a coach for the U14 girls team and that is why I decided to accept this fun challenge. I do have an agreement with [them] that when there is an offer, I can immediately release myself." (nieuwsblad.be, 19 Aug 2020)

IN THE FAMILY
His daughters Kim and Hanne have played for the Belgium national women's team and were both part of the squad that won bronze at the 2017 European Championships in the Czech Republic. His son Robin has played basketball at college level in the United States of America. (SportsDeskOnline, 22 Mar 2021; philipmestdagh.com, 10 Feb 2020; proballers.com, 01 Jan 2011)
