Her father Makoto Akaho was a basketball player who played for Sumitomo Metal Industries and Panasonic, and also represented Japan at the 1995 World University Games in Fukuoka, Japan. Her mother Kumiko Masaura competed in the sport at university level. Her Raita Akaho made his professional debut with Japanese B.League club Chiba Jets Funabashi in the 2020/21 season. Her older sister Sakura Akaho joined Denso Iris in 2015, and was named Rookie of the Year for the 2015/16 Women's Japan Basketball League. Her younger sister Kanna Akhao has played the sport for Nippon Sport Science University.
