CLUB JOURNEY
He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the second round, 51st overall pick, of the 2008 MLB Draft, straight out of Bellflower High School in Paramount, CA. He was drafted as an outfielder, but had played more as a pitcher in high school. He spent his first four years as a professional in the minor leagues, during which time he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. He made his major league debut in 2012 for the Blue Jays and was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2014. From 2012 to 2016 he played in 372 MLB games for the Blue Jays and Tigers, but has not returned to the majors since then. He became a free agent after the 2018 season, and signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians as a pitcher - not an outfielder - in 2019 and played in 32 games in the Indians' farm system. In 2020 he was assigned to the Indian's minor league affiliate, Columbus Clippers.
