His father, Juan 'Porky' Lopez, played minor league baseball as a catcher, including a season at Triple-A level in 1987. His uncle, Onix Concepcion, played in 389 MLB games for the Kansas City Royals from 1980 to 1985. His sister, Aleima Lopez, has represented Puerto Rico in softball, and was part of the national team that won bronze at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. She has also competed at multiple world championships, and was part of the Puerto Rico team that finished third at the 2019 Olympic qualification tournament. CLUB JOURNEY
He was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 16th round, 486th overall pick, of the 2011 MLB Draft, out of Deltona High School in Florida. From 2012 to 2018 he played in the minors, reaching Triple-A level in 2017 and 2018 with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals and Omaha Storm Chasers. In late 2018 he elected free agency, and was signed by the Atlanta Braves organisation in 2019 where he continued to play at Triple-A level. He became a free agent again in late 2020 and was signed to a minor league contract by the Boston Red Sox in early 2021 where he has continued to play for Double-A and Triple-A teams.
