He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the third round, 81st overall pick, of the 2017 MLB Draft. In 2017 he played in 35 games for the Athletics' Rookie league affiliate team, the Arizona League Athletics, and in 2018 he was assigned to the Athletics' then-affiliate team, the Beloit Snappers, where he played in 121 games that season. In 2019 he was assigned to the Stockton Ports, where he played in 72 games. In May 2021 he was assigned to the Athletics' Double-A affiliate, the Midland RockHounds, where he was the team's youngest player. ALL-ROUNDER
He has earned praise for his defensive qualities on the field, and also for his hitting and base-stealing skills. "I feel like I have strengths in all aspects of the game. Making the routine play is something I always work on, and I attribute to everything I do defensively. Offensively, I think I can do everything, whether that's placing down a bunt, hitting behind the runner or driving a guy in. I feel like I can do all of that. GOING PRO
In high school he made a name for himself with a .372 batting average over four years and was named by Baseball America as the 29th top-rated prospect in the country. He committed to play collegiate baseball at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, but later changed his mind and opted to enter the MLB Draft where he was selected by the Oakland Athletics.
