"I've always thought of expectations as limitations. I don't like to put any expectations on the season or my performance. In baseball, it could be anybody's game, anybody's day, so I'm just going to go out there and do my best and let the chips fall where they may. I don't have an idea where I could land level-wise or where I could end up. I'm just going to go out there and try to play hard every day and see where it gets me." (bostonherald.com, 17 Mar 2021)

In 2021 he was voted as the Top Prospect for the Boston Red Sox by readers of the Red Sox fan site, Over the Monster, with 39% of the vote. (overthemonster.com, 22 Jan 2021)

CLUB JOURNEY
He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round, 26th overall pick, of the 2018 MLB Draft, while he was a student at American Heritage High School in Plantation, FL. In 2018 he played two games for the Sox's Rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate team, before a thumb ligament injury put him out of action for the rest of the season. In 2019 he played 118 games for A-level team Greenville Drive, before being promoted to Double-A team Portland Sea Dogs in 2021. In 2020 and 2021 he was also invited to the Boston Red Sox spring training camp as a non-roster player. (milb.com, 07 Jun 2021; nesn.com, 15 Mar 2021; woosoxwatch.com, 07 Jun 2020)

JOEY VOTTO AND THE CHOKE UP
He modelled his choke up [higher hand position on bat] and two-strike style [facing a pitcher on two strikes] on that of his childhood baseball hero, Canadian player Joey Votto. "The choke up on the bat and two-strike approach - it was just something that I watched him do, and I tried it out for myself and I liked the results I was getting. I liked the way I felt in the box. I liked the way I would compete when I did formulate a good two-strike approach. I'm looking to keep that, because I'm feeling really comfortable now."
