DUAL CITIZENSHIP DUEL
She won a court appeal to earn Italian citizenship, for which she is eligible through her great-grandmother, challenging an Italian law that stated that citizenship could only be passed down the male side of the family. The case took almost three years to reach its outcome. "It was very hard mentally to maintain a positive attitude because I felt like the future of my softball career was entirely dependent on the Italian court's ruling. The process to get dual citizenship was long, confusing and felt like a roller coaster. Playing in the Olympics would be a culmination of 18 years of dedication and sacrifice to become the best softball player I can be. I feel even more proud to possibly represent Italy because I would be honouring the heritage of my family." (journalgazette.net, 01 Nov 2020)

FURTHER EDUCATION
After beginning her studies in media and communications at Boston College in the United States of America, she transferred to Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, to complete her degree, before studying towards a master's in sports administration from the same university. She has served as director of operations for Northwestern University women's field hockey and softball. (LinkedIn profile, 01 Jan 2019)
