General Interest

General
BALL-PLAYING COUPLE
She met her husband, Jake Reed, while both were studying at the University of Oregon, where he played baseball and she played softball. They married in November 2017. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the fifth round of the 2014 MLB Draft, and has played in the minor leagues since then. In 2020 he signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels. ATHLETES UNLIMITED
In 2020 she was part of the inaugural Athletes Unlimited league, which brought together softball players in a new format. "I've been doing this [softball] long enough post-college where, if this is the solution, to make the game more interesting without changing it very much, I'm all for it. If this is the way to give women an opportunity to make a living playing professional softball, I'm all for it. I'm really glad to be a part of it and experience it. Too many players after college have to retire. They're 22 to 24 and so talented but can't make it work financially. I really think Athletes Unlimited is making the game exciting." The format saw her spend time as a team captain. "It's a pretty cool opportunity to be a captain and instil my own culture for the week. Normally I'm not involved in pitching rotations but I've really loved the coaching part, gotten into it and it's more responsibility than playing on a team so it's been a cool experience." (goducks.com, 21 Aug 2020; registerguard.com, 26 Aug 2020)

NPF DRAFT
She was selected by the Dallas Charge as the 26th overall pick in the 2015 National Pro Fastpitch [NPF] Draft but chose to focus on playing for the US national team instead of joining the NPF. (sportsspectrum.com, 14 Jan 2021; auprosports.com, 26 Aug 2020)

OTHER ACTIVITIES AND COACHING
She is an athlete representative on the USA Softball board of directors. She has also served as an assistant softball coach at Biola University, and in 2017/18 she served as a volunteer assistant for the softball coaching staff at the University of Oklahoma.
