In February 2020 she tore the anterior cruciate ligament [ACL] and meniscus in her right knee while playing in the first game of the US team's Stand Beside Her tour. After the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she elected to have surgery in May 2020, and returned to playing in March 2021. (softballamerica.com, 09 Apr 2021)

She began playing in her backyard at age three, and started playing with a team at age eight. She then played for Etiwanda High School in Etiwanda, CA, United States of America. "I feel like I've been around [softball] forever. I was in the backyard with my dad with a bat in my hand or a glove when I was three." (flosoftball.com, 27 Jan 2017)

She followed her older sisters into the sport, and would watch them play on weekends. "Often, my sisters make fun of me, because I was always the loudest one in the stands. I loved it. I practised with my sisters all the time and looked up to them. I literally couldn't wait to play softball. It was almost a given that I would wind up playing, because it was a part of my life since I was little and I fell in love with it from the first time I picked up a softball. My sisters and I are all alike in that we all enjoy family time together, but at same time we are all very competitive." (flosoftball.com, 27 Jan 2017)

POSITIVE POSTPONEMENT
After tearing her anterior cruciate ligament [ACL] in February 2020, she decided to have surgery in May 2020 after the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "The Olympics being pushed back a year was definitely a blessing for me. I believed that I was going to tear my ACL at some point in my career, and I believe it was perfect timing with everything that happened in the remainder of 2020. I know that COVID impacted the entire globe and that it was kind of a dark time, but for me, personally, there was some light that came from 2020 and I'm very grateful for that." (softballamerica.com, 09 Apr 2021)

LITTLE SPAULDING
She grew up as the youngest of four sisters. Two of her sisters played softball at university, including Danielle who was a three-time First Team All-American at the University of North Carolina. But while she was known as the youngest of the Spaulding sisters throughout high school, she eventually made her own name for herself. "I was 'Little Spaulding' at Etiwanda [high school]. And then as I got older, I kind of found my name. And I was no longer 'Little Spaulding' anymore. That was pretty fun. I learned how to be an athlete through them. Having those three older sisters definitely shaped me into the person I am because they shared their experiences with me." (espn.com, 05 Jul 2017)

NPF STINT
She signed for the Chicago Bandits as a free agent in late 2017 and played in 17 games in the 2018 NPF season, before being released by the club. (chicagobandits.com, 08 Nov 2018)
