He had his first coaching role at age 18 with the Villa Clara men's team in Cuba, and at age 23 he began working as a pitching coach with Ciudad Habana in Cuba. He went on to coach the Mexican junior national team in 1997 before moving to the United States of America, where he was head coach of the Miami Dade College [MDC] team in Florida from 2005 to 2011. He has served as the manager, pitching coach and recruiting co-ordinator of the Mexico women's softball team, and has coached the Puerto Rico, Cuba and Dominican Republic national women's softball teams. He has also served as pitching coach and co-head coach of National Pro Fastpitch [NFP] team the Cleveland Comets in Ohio, United States of America.
