His brothers Diluka and Dinuka have both represented Sri Lanka in badminton. Dinuka placed fifth in the singles event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia, while Diluka competed at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. His father Louie has played and coached badminton at national level, while his brother Chamika has played both badminton and cricket at U19 international level.
