His father Tonny worked at Aarhus Badminton Club and his whole family was involved the sport. He and his older brother Kasper would take their father's keys to the club before he woke up in the mornings to play at the hall together. "After school, I went down there. I was there for the whole day just playing and hanging around. I spent so much time in the club and playing down there. My mum was also quite involved with the club. So, I was kind of born into badminton. I also played football in my younger days, but I never doubted that badminton was the path I was going to follow." "I kind of put a little bit of pressure on my own shoulders by calling myself the 'next big thing'. But I believe that if you want to become the best, you need to deal with that amount of pressure coming your way. I consider pressure as an exciting challenge and the process of winning thereafter. I'm confident in my badminton abilities. I still feel nerves when I step on court. But I think I'm really good at handling nerves. I think many people don't want that, they're scared of nerves. But my approach to nerves is probably a little bit different. I like it because it shows me that this is something I really want."
