Her family played badminton and her father introduced her to the sport. She also suffered from a lung issue as a child, so her father wanted her to take up a sport to maintain her fitness. She teamed up with mixed doubles partner Praveen Jordan in 2018 with a view to competing together at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "My personal target is to win a medal, but we hope we can reach gold. Our coaches really paired us well at the beginning, one of them even said to me, 'Just look at him as your boyfriend'. And then somehow we clicked easily on the court, while actually I wasn't that close with him off the court. Of course we went through a process, but I think we have the chemistry."
