COACH WARNING
In October 2019 he received two warning letters from coach Richard Mainaky for disciplinary issues, including breaking curfew and missing training sessions. He says that he felt he had redeemed himself in coach Mainaky's eyes after winning the mixed doubles event with Melati Daeva Oktavianti at the 2020 All England Open in Birmingham, England. "Coach Richard is quite firm. After I got the second letter, I was called and he warned me, 'You must be able to prove yourself', and then I started trying to make that happen. It wasn't until the 2020 All England Open that I was finally able to prove myself. Those warning letters were not really an encouragement for me to play better. I always give my best regardless of the letters. I have a great relationship with coach Mainaky, and I know he did all that solely for my sake and the team. His name Praveen Jordan was inspired by Indian actor Praveen Kumar Sobti and US basketball player Michael Jordan. "My mother was inspired by Michael Jordan. I played basketball at school, but I never wanted to get serious with it. Praveen came from an Indian actor Praveen Kumar.
