She was inspired by Indonesian players Ricky Subagja and Rexy Mainaky. General Interest

General
BUSINESS
She and her husband Felix Djimin run Grazia Residence, a real estate business in her hometown of Tomohon in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. "I'm proud of Tomohon, and I always say to my friends overseas that they should come to Tomohon. We are here so that the people of Tomohon can own a quality house." (beritamanado.com, 17 Nov 2020; today.line.me, 17 Nov 2019; manado.kompas.com, 25 Jun 2019)

RETIREMENT PLANS
In 2020 she spoke about the possibility of retiring from the sport after competing at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I've started thinking about my future plans, about what I would do after retiring. I'm still preparing myself now because everyone is thinking about it, so I'm just trying to prepare myself. Perhaps I'll get deeper into my entrepreneurship, something unrelated to badminton. I'm also preparing for something more, to get married and start a family." (sportfeat.bolasport.com, 16 Jun 2020)

FOREHAND SERVE
After struggling with her backhand serve for a number of years following a shoulder injury she sustained in 2011, she switched to a forehand serve in January 2020. "I broke my shoulder in 2011 and after that I couldn't get my backhand serve. I always used to get frustrated with my weakness in service. So I kept trying, but still I would get nervous. I don't know why. After some reflection, I had to accept that it [refusing to change] was because of my pride. I used to tell myself, 'Hey Greys, you are a professional badminton player, how come you cannot do the serve?' I always thought like that and could not get the answer. So after reflecting on this, after many years, I realised I had to accept this weakness. In order to play at the professional level I had to accept it as my weakness and then change my strategy about it. My coach said, 'What matters is the point, not the method of serving'. So I changed it from the first month of last year [speaking in 2021], from the Malaysian Masters." (bwfworldtour.bwfbadminton.com, 20 Feb 2021; bola.com, 21 Feb 2021)

DOUBLES PARTNER
She first teamed up with women's doubles partner Apriani in 2017, and the pair have since decided to make their partnership permanent with a view to competing together at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She says she was not affected by the 10-year age gap between the pair. "It doesn't matter whether I get paired with a junior or senior, we all have our own distinctions. The most important thing is to find a balance and bring a bigger energy into the game. I can share so much wisdom and experience to Apriani, on the other hand, she brings this huge amount of power, dreams, strength and the will to do more. She literally could cover my side of the court every time I got injured. Those things motivate me not to quit and to keep on playing." (sportfeat.bolasport.com, 22 Jun 2020; sumbar.antaranews.com, 21 May 2020; VIVA.CO.ID YouTube channel, 19 Jan 2020)

OLYMPIC DISQUALIFICATION
She and former partner Meiliana Jauhari were disqualified from the women's doubles competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, after a Badminton World Federation [BWF] disciplinary committee ruled they had deliberately attempted to lose a group match in order to manipulate the draw for the knockout stage. The pair were charged by the BWF with 'not using one's best efforts to win a match' and 'conducting oneself in a manner that is abusive or detrimental to the sport'. In addition, both players were suspended for four months by the Badminton Association of Indonesia. The BWF also disqualified three other pairs for committing the same offences during the women's doubles tournament at the Games. (bbc.co.uk, 01 Aug 2012)
