ACADEMY
In August 2020 he opened the Gideon Badminton Hall in Bogor, Indonesia, which features 10 courts and gym facilities. It was the idea of his father Kurniahu Gideon. "My father really likes badminton, and wanted to have his own hall to train in, so we built this one. The construction process took a year. There will also be an academy for those over the age of six. Hopefully it can be busy and it will make badminton even more popular." (Gideon Badminton Academy Instagram profile, 24 Apr 2021; observerid.com, 08 Sep 2020; indosport.com, 28 Aug 2020)

MINIONS NICKNAME
He and men's doubles partner Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo have been nicknamed 'The Minions' due to their diminutive stature and fast and agile playing style, which their fans say bears resemblance to the characters from the animated 'Despicable Me' films. "Since we wear yellow outfits on the court [like the characters from the films], we're fine with it. I don't think height impacts our performance. What's important is confidence."
