General Interest

General
RIVALRY
His rivalry with Japanese player Kento Momota has been nicknamed MomoGi [Momota-Ginting] by Indonesian fans. Momogi is also a popular snack in Indonesia. "It's quite funny but, seriously, Momota has been one of my toughest rivals for years." (All England Badminton YouTube channel, 27 Mar 2020; indosport.com, 05 May 2020)

CAREER CHOICE
He decided not to pursue higher education in order to focus on his sporting career. "I became serious about badminton during my junior high days. Actually I had been looking for a personal coach since primary school. I started having less focus on education at high school. It was all about the training. At age 15 I got my first sponsorship, while previously I had always trained and competed at my own expense. My family then asked if I wanted to continue studying. I don't think education has a deadline, but athletes do. So perhaps later I will continue studying." (beritagar.id, 05 Feb 2018; indosport.com, 05 Jun 2016)
