TOKYO QUALIFICATION
She received a qualification berth for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as the next highest ranked Spanish player in the world rankings after her national teammate Carolina Marin was forced to withdraw from the Games due to injury. "Obviously, without her injury I would have had no choice to qualify, but nobody wants a teammate to be injured and, in addition, Carolina is my friend. Seeing her frustrated after such a hard year made me feel bad because I empathise a lot. If we could have both gone it would have been complete joy. When I heard for the first time I was going to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo I was shocked. In my head it was unfeasible today. Going to a Games is what you are training every day for, it is the dream for which I left my home at age 14. I still have not have time to process it." HEIGHT
At 183cm tall, she says her height can prove challenging when competing against the world's elite players. "It is more difficult for me to reach the lower shots and in defence movements. I need an extra gear to reach the top players." (elcorreo.com, 31 May 2021; marca.com, 29 May 2019)
