Every day I asked my grandfather to come out to the field to watch people play badminton, and borrowed his racket and played by myself on the corner. EARLY DAYS
At age 12 she stopped playing badminton for two years because her mother was worried about her future prospects if she continued to pursue the sport. "I [left Hanoi] and returned to Phu Tho [her hometown], and stopped playing for two years. My mother did not want me to pursue badminton because she thought I wouldn't have a future. I remember at that time my parents hid all my rackets. I missed badminton so much that I skipped school to compete. Mum scolded me after a few matches.
