GRANDFATHER ABSENT IN TOKYO
Despite having coached him and his older brother Phillip their entire careers, their grandfather Don Chew will not accompany them at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo due to concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic. (kcrw.com, 19 Jul 2021; losangeles.cbslocal.com, 19 Jul 2021)

OLYMPIC BROTHERS
He will compete alongside his older brother Phillip in men's doubles at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The 2020 Games will be his first Olympic appearance, and the second for his brother Phillip. "It's been nice for me, especially getting to play with my brother for my first Olympics. When we started out as kids, we actually played together then, and it has kind of come full circle for us to play again together, but now at the elite stage and at the highest level event in the world. We are definitely underdogs compared to Asia and many strong pairs in Europe coming out. But our goal is, of course, to medal. And if not, hopefully in future Olympics to come, we can bring the sport to become a medal-winning sport [in the United States of America] as well." (kcrw.com, 19 Jul 2021)
