She has been coached by Cagatay Tasdemir since 2003. "He was my teacher in primary school, and he was the one who encouraged me to get into this sport. My family is from Adana and, after I was selected for the national team, my family ran into some difficulties, so my parents decided to leave our home in Bursa and go back to Adana in 2009. My trainer said to my father, 'Where are you going? Neslihan has a lot to accomplish in front of her, I will do whatever it takes to support her'. And that is what he did, so we stayed in Bursa."
