General Interest

General
NO COACH
After parting with his coach in early 2019, he began competing and training without a coach in the run-up to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. His longtime physiotherapist Victoria Kao took on a more active role by travelling to every competition with him, supporting him psychologically, and sitting courtside during his matches. "I need to focus to get a point, so it's not about a coach, it's about yourself. The coach talks to you about your problem. I know my real problem. That is how I improve. I do a lot of homework a coach does before a game and spend more time analysing opponents and what I should do under what circumstances." (bwfbadminton.com, 16 Aug 2019; straitstimes.com, 05 Nov 2019)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
He has done charity work with special needs children, and coached badminton to children in remote areas of Chinese Taipei. "Life is short so I want to do more things, to contribute more." (straitstimes.com, 05 Nov 2019)
