PARTNER
He first paired up with his men's doubles partner Keigo Sonoda in grade nine of middle school but the pair separated after graduating high school. After completing his studies at Waseda University, he again teamed up with Sonoda in 2012 for Tonami Transportation in Japan. "I entered university while he went to a business team. In 2009 we had a chance to temporarily pair up to represent Kumamoto at the National Sports Festival of Japan, and we defeated the business team's league number one pair in the semifinals. During that night, Sonoda told me that he wanted to concentrate on the doubles completely. I was surprised, because it was the first time he spoke his thoughts to me."
