At age eight I went to a local club and fell in love with the game at my first practice." (bwfbadminton.com, 08 Mar 2020; burgenland.orf.at, 08 Dec 2019)

STUDY BREAK
In 2014 he decided to take a break from his law studies at the University of Vienna in Austria in order to focus on badminton. "At times I have studied law next to my sport career and I'm missing about a third to finish it. I took a break from studying two years before the 2016 Olympic Games and the last two years as well [speaking in 2020] in order to fully focus on badminton, but I will get my degree sooner or later. As the 2020 Games is moved to 2021, I will adjust my original plans a little bit." (badmintoneurope.com, 14 Apr 2020)
