Brazil made the final at the 2019 World Championships in Doha to secure their ticket to Tokyo. After setting a South American record in the heats, they placed eighth in the final.
The Brazilian team also reached the final at the 2019 World Relays in Yokohama, where they finished sixth. At the 2021 World Relays they qualified for the final with the second-fastest time and went on to repeat the feat in the final, claiming silver nearly a second behind winners Italy and just 0.04s ahead of the third-placed Dominican Republic team.
